Connaught Cup Fever grips the province this weekend.

Up first our U14 Boys make the trip to Mostrim, just outside Edgeworthstown, yes it is not in Connaught but they play in Connaught Cup. This will be s tern test for Aidan Kenny and the lads but one they are well able for. KICK OFF 12.30PM AWAY

Our Girls U12 Girls travel to North Sligo, under the majestic view of Benbulben to play Yeats United in Carney Village. This is the first match of the season for the girls and are looking forward to the challenge on Yeats grass pitch with manager Trevor Henry in buoyant mood after a strong pre season under their belt. KICK OFF 12.30PM AWAY

In the Connaught Cup U16 category Eamonn "Klopp" Johnston & Mossy "Shankley Egan" bring their charges in the colosseum of Drom to take on Salthill Devons B team. The lads have trained hard during the week in preparation for this test. Our best wishes to Hazel Finnerty, mother of Callum who had surgery this week.

KICK OFF 2PM AWAY

And finally if you are in area today why not venture down to the astro and roar on the U12 Boys as they take on Colga, from Galway at 3.30pm. This promises to be a humdinger with the lads buzzing all week in anticipation of the challenge, Managers Damien Fallon, Paddy Ward and Kevin Gillespie have left no stone unturned in pre season.

KICK OFF 3.30PM BUFC ASTRO

Some very positive results during the week for our U18 & U17 Boys. The former with a very creditable draw v Strand in Mc Sharry Park on Thursday evening. A Shane Gethins brace getting a share of the spoils where by all account three points would not have been unjustified. On Friday evening Robbie Kennedy's and Paudraic Harte's u17 lads dampened the Strand spirit with a scintillating start to their season. Ben Sherlock, Adam Taheny, Cian Kennedy, Adam Mannion and Cameron Flanagan with the goals.

Unfortunately our Seniors could not return to winning ways against Merville United last night. After going one down the lads fought back with a brace from u18 players Keith Cotter, and led 2-1 at half time. The crossbar and the keepers fingertips prevented us from extending the lead and as can happen in these games Merville took their chance when it came on the 73rd minute to equalise. With both teams going for the win BUFC were unfortunate to lose Gary Cavanagh to a nasty injury, wishing Gary a speedy recovery, and soon after the reshuffle we conceded a penalty which ex BUFC youth player, Tyler Stallard converted. Next up for the lads is a home tie v Ballinrobe Town from Mayo in the FAI Junior Cup.
