Strand picked up the pace and had Several opportunities but could not get past the Ballisodare Keeper, Jakub Wodz, who Kept BUFC in the game with some fantastic saves.

Strand finally went ahead in the 34th Minute when Oisin Whelan’s Free kick looped over the advancing goalkeeper to give Strand the half time lead. Five minutes into the second half Strand increased their lead with Oran Harte’s Strike and it looked like Strand Celtic would push on to dominate matters. But the Ballisodare boys stuck to their task and pressured The Strand defence for the next twenty minutes and were rewarded for their efforts when Shane Gethin's slotted his effort past the Strand Keeper, Adams, in goal. It was Gethin’s Again who broke through five minutes later and calmly finished his effort equalising for Ballisodare United in the 75th minute. 16.9.23 Connaught Cup Boys U16 - BUFC V Salthill Devon B, Galway (Away) WIN

BUFC U16s recorded a resounding 3-0 win on the road in Galway in the Connacht Cup this afternoon. After a match delayed an hour by the late arrival of the match official, the lads were on the front foot for the duration of the first half and 0-0 at H/T didn't reflect our superiority.

Chances were created and spurned in the first half but that was not the case in the 2nd as the lads scored 10 minutes after the resumption, a classy and composed finish from Brandon Meehan. 10 minutes from the end, Brandon added his 2nd following a great run and delivery from Cillian Deery. Adam Taheny provided the finish for the last, bravely beating the advancing Devon keeper and heading past him in the last minute.

A very proud, Co-Manager Mossy Egan said "It was a superb performance from start to finish and hard to pick a MOTM but it was a day when our back 4 in particular deserve huge credit for an aggressive and composed performance throughout. Merville next on Wednesday night, a match we hopefully play with a huge self-belief from today's outing"

16.9.23 Connaught Cup U12 Boys - BUFC 0-2 Colga FC, Galway (Home) LOSS

Unfortunately this game did not go our way despite the valiant effort of our young troops. The lads played to the final whistle but could not match Colga's efficiency in front of goals. The travelling support were treated to first class hospitality provided by the families, coaches and club after the game and the smiles were soon back on our lads face which is what it is all about.

16.9.23 Connaught Cup U14 Boys - BUFC V Mostrim. Longford (Away) LOSS

Our lads trip to Longford was not a fruitful one and they found it hard going on the grass pitch against a team that took their chances. Ryan Maloney with the pick of the goals on a day when things just did not go our way, back to the drawing board and league action.
