Our underage girls team, their coaches along with some of their brothers & parents were part of WNT history on Saturday, 23rd September 2023, when they attended the Irish Women's team UEFA Nations League game v Northern Ireland, the Women's National Teams first ever game at the Aviva Stadium. The trip was organised by Aidan Kenny and Paul Hannon with the help of girls coaches, Audi Dinan, John Ward & Trevor Henry & The Clubs Head Coach, Noel Meenaghan.

The group was part of the 35,944 fans who attended the game, off the back of Ireland's similarly historic journey to last summer's World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand. The game itself was a slow burner in the first half but came to life with Lucy Quinn the history maker as her cracking volley on the half-hour mark was the first goal scored for the Ireland's WNT at the famous Lansdowne Road.

Northern Ireland came out sharp in the second period and tried to put their hosts under some pressure, with Caragh Hamilton attempting to rally the troops on a couple of occasions.

Ireland however remained in control of the game for the opening 25 minutes of the second half and deservedly doubled their lead in the 70th minute when Kyra Carusa took full advantage of a mix-up between Turner and defender Rebecca Holloway to guide the ball into an empty net.

Lily Agg then put the icing on the cake with a fabulous header from a McCabe corner in the 85th minute.

The children were so well behaved throughout and were a true credit to the club and their families. Great celebrations at the end and a great sing song on the journey home.

Highlights of the game.
