BUFC U15 Girls v Merville United (HOME) (LOSS)

Our U15 Girls played their second match of the season and faced a very powerful Merville United. We got off to the worst possible start and were three down within 7 minutes.

However, to the girls great credit they regrouped and kept Merville at bay until 10 minutes into the second half. April Finnegan in her first ever soccer match was immense in goals and every girl in the squad never gave up.

Riona Dooner and Crystal Dele from the u13 Girls made their first appearance of the season as well which is great to see. The next challenge sees us take on St. John's at 9.30am on Saturday 14.10.23

BUFC U13 Girls 2-4 Strand Celtic (AWAY) (LOSS)

On Friday evening our U13 Girls took on our rivals from across the bay in Strand at Cleveragh. Strand were very efficient on the night and got two goals in last minute of first half which left with an uphill battle.

The early concession of a beautifully struck free kick early in the second half left us with too much to do. We pulled one goal back with ten minutes to go but despite numerous chances we could not find a way past the resolute Strand defence to reduce the deficit.

Goalscorers on the night were Tara Morris & Blaithin O'Meara and a bug shout out to our two debutants Beth Heaney & Grace Keogh who both made a big impression on the first outing for the club.

Boys U-13 Group B: BUFC 3-3 Benbulben (AWAY) (DRAW)

One that got away for the u13s lads in Cliffoney this morning.

After racing to a 2 goal lead through an 11min Daniel McPadden ⚽⚽ brace and the lads were in control of the game forcing the Benbulben keeper into making some good saves and also hitting the post from an effort from Charlie Nicholson. Benbulben pulled 1 back and slowly grew into the game but our back 4 of Callum Clarke, Liam McManus, Max Verdon and Alex Cashman held them at bay until half time.

HT score 1-2

After an early scare from a misplaced pass from tip and Benbulben getting through 1 v 1 only for Ethan Stoodley, who was our GK for the day, to make a great save the second half continued in the same fashion. The BUFC lads having a good deal of possession and testing the Benbulben keeper with Daniel McPadden, Bobby Sweeney, Stephen Gillespie and Charlie Nicholson all going close, and Daniel hitting the post with another effort.

Unfortunately, the next goal scored was for the Benbulben lads after a loose pass from ourselves in the middle of the pitch was latched onto and slotted home.

Both Stephen Gillespie and Scott Kenny forced saves from the opposition keeper from free kicks before Max Verdon ⚽ scored our 3rd of the day with a rocket of a strike from the halfway line with 10 minutes to go!

But it wasn't to be as Benbulben were awarded a penalty 7 minutes later Max harshly adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box.

Benbulben slotted home the penalty and although we had another couple of chances it finished 3-3.

U13 Group C: BUFC 4-0 Real Tubber FC (HOME ) (WIN)

The u13 group C team, captained by Tommy Walsh came away with a hard fought victory against Tubber this morning. The first half was tense and physical, with BUFC unlucky not to lead after the Tubber keeper did well to save 2 Ballisodare penalties.

BUFC started the second half well and were rewarded with an early goal from Orán Hynes, who was a constant threat on the left wing. After that Conor Fallon stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, one goal better than the other! Huge squad effort today, which deservedly got the rewards!

SFAI Subway Girls U12 Cup: BUFC 1-6 Salthill Devon (HOME) (LOSS)

Our U-12 girls lost 6-1 to Salthill Devon. We got off  to a great start scoring straight from the kick off when Blaithin O'Meara, fresh her outing the previous night with our U13s, burst through and got her head up for a precise pass to the back post where the ever alert Kristina Leskova finished with great composure.

After that Salthill took control and in their no 10 who scored all their goals they had a lethal finisher with lightning pace as well. Disappointing result but we'll go again.

The girls, their parents and coaches put on great hospitality after the match and it is great to see this recognised by Salthill Devon's coach, and ex Crystal Palace player, Rory Ginty.

Sligo Pallets Premier League: BUFC 2-0 Calry Bohs Reserves (HOME) (WIN)

An impressive display by Calry net minder Aidan Devaney kept Ballisodare United at bay in the first half and it was 0-0 at half time.

Ballisodare hit the front when Gary Anderson slotted home after good work from Keith Cotter after 52 minutes. It was 2-0 to Ballisodare 5 minutes later when Aaron Scanlon flicked Andersons free to the back of Aidan Devaneys net.

A young Calry side kept going until the 90th minute but it ended 2-0 with impressive displays from Ballisodares Patrick Stokes and Michael Currid.

U17 Boys FAI Cup: BUFC 3-8 Donegal Town (AWAY) (LOSS)

In the U17 FAI Youth Cup our lads travelled to Donegal Town to take on the local side and end with an 8-3 defeat. We were unfortunately well beaten by a strong Donegal Team. We found ourselves 6-1 down at half time.

We gave them too much space in the first half, and played way better in the second half. The highlight of the game for BUFC was a hat trick from the in form Adam Mannion. Onwards to our next game.

The lads were well kitted out in their new kit sponsored by Tony Kennedy, (AK Electrical) and Coaches, Robbie Kennedy & Paudraic Harte. A big thank you to all three for their continued support.

U18 Boys Sligo Leitrim DSL League: BUFC 3-1 Yeats United (HOME) (WIN)

Our U18s enjoyed a fine win vs Yeats Utd tonight 3-1. Patience was the key. Yeats threw all at us in the first 15-20 minutes and went one up but we grew into the game.

We had to wait until the second half before scoring Mikey Coen (48 mins), Shane Gethins (55 mins) and a superb goal from Michael Currid (73 mins) who waltzed by a few defenders and calmly finished.
