9:30AM GRPC U13 Boys: BUFC U13s 4-0 Abbey United; Astro Ballisodare

Another impressive win by the u13 white team this morning over Abbey Utd.

Oran Hynes opened the scoring mid way through the first half with a well placed strike. A minute later  Oran  took advantage of confusion in the Abbey defence to grab his second! He was unlucky not to score more, with a couple of efforts coming off the bar.

Two mins later Captain Conor Cuskelly scored a stunning long range shot to make it 3 nil.

Kyron Gethins made it 4 nil mid way through the second half with a well taken goal.

Special mention to the defence (and subs) on another impressive clean sheet Naoise Lang, Mark Drury, Teddy Healion, Dylan Hughes, Cian Harvey and Nathaniel Mozerski in front of keeper Ryan Fallon. Super squad performance with 18 players all playing their part for BUFC!  🔴⚪⚽⚽⚽⚽

11:00AM GIRLS U12 GRPA: BUFC U12 Girls 12-3 Kilglass/Inishcrone: Michael McGown Pk Astro

After a disappointing cup result 2 weeks ago this talented group of girls really bounced back with a bang beating KEUFC 12-3 this morning.

It wasn't as simple as it seems though, after BUFC missing a few early chances KEUFC actually took the lead through a well worked short corner but in fairness our girls didn't drop their heads and some wonderful feet by Sophie Henry to go past 3 players and finish well past the keeper had us level straight away.

Shortly afterwards we took the lead through a well taken goal by Kristina Leskova after some good build up play from our girls but again we were wasteful in front of goals to increase our lead  and got punished again when the hosts equalised.

This seemed to spur our girls on and we rushed into a 3 goal lead before halftime. Another 2 goals from the on fire Kristina Leskova and 1 from the hard working Blaithin O'Meara.

HALF TIME BUFC u12 Girls 5-2 KEUFC

In the second half we were in total control hitting KEUFC for another 7 goals with some wonderful team play for some of them.

In fairness to KEUFC they never gave up and were rewarded with a late penalty which was scored with great confidence.

The whole squad participated in this win and to a girl gave a 10 /10 performance. The most pleasing thing about today was not the scoreline but the work rate and the some wonderful passages of play by the girls.

This truly is a special group of girls and if they can stay fully concentrated throughout the games not many teams will beat them.

Scorers today, Kristina Leskova ⚽⚽⚽⚽, Blaithin O'Meara ⚽⚽⚽⚽ (1pen) Sophie Henry ⚽⚽ Gabi SuchockaTara Morris

15:30PM SFAI Subway Boys U13 Cup: BUFC U13 Boys 2-11 Ballinasloe Town: Astro Ballisodare

A hard day at the office for the lads today. After scoring from kick off from a Max Verdon rocket from well inside his own half it was a dream start for the lads.

It did not take long for Ballinasloe to sure there class and had equalized within 10 minutes. The visitors then took the lead 10 minutes later and pushed on scoring 3 in quick succession.

2 of the goals came from whipped in crosses that sailed into top corner. Bobby Sweeney pulled 1 back before the break with a well taken goal.

The lads regrouped and the second have was a tighter affair for the first 10-15 minutes with chances for both sides.

Ballinasloe started to get a hold of the game and never looked back scoring at will for the last 15 of the game. With 4 of their players on the Galway county team at times this showed. Hard day for the lads but will regroup and come out firing for next game.

A HUGE thank you to the parents and supporters who put on great hospitality for the travelling team after the game.

17:00PM SFAI Subway Boys u15 Cup: BUFC U15 Boys V Knocknacarra: Astro Ballisodare

Last Saturday evening saw management team Martin Toolan, Tommy Lavelle & their troops pit their wits against Galway City Youth Soccer heavyweights Knocknacarra in the SFAI Cup at Ballisodare United Astro.

Well aware of the challenge ahead despite the best efforts of a strong central midfield, defence and some sterling goalkeeping from Ronan Rogers the team found themselves 2-0 down after 15 mins not reflecting the way the team were ably snuffing out constant threats from Knocknacarra from wide and close to our goal.

Despite this the team rallied and settled into the game realising their ability to create more attacking interchanges of play managing to create a couple of half chances before being hit on a very fast break with literally the last play before the half time whistle.

Our lads burst out of the blocks soon into the second half with Ryan Maloney playing on to Jayden Gilgan bursting into the box only to be denied by a quality save from the Knocknacarra keeper.

Some good hold up work on the wing by Alfie Lavelle against larger physical defence won a free in a decent position just outside the 18 yard box which afforded the ever hard working Daniel Toolan a rare opportunity to test the keeper from the dead ball. He hit the target but again good hands from the opposition keeper denied a certain goal.

Once again Knocknacarra struck quickly on the break with pace and found the net which could have broken the resolve especially of Ryan Whelan and Cian McMunn who overall managed to break down the majority of opposition moves around the 18 and 6 yard boxes. Philip McManus joined the fray in goals at this after a busy but successful match up to that point from Ronan.

Towards the last quarter Ballisodare finally got just rewards when Adam Finn on the wing played Jayden in after which he was clearly brought down and referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Jayden comfortably dispatched the penalty to leave the score at 4-1.

From that stage it was clear that fresh legs were needed after a monumental effort from most of the starting team including Jack Galvin, Eoin Toolan, Jakub Jaroszek, Daniel Connolly. On came Peter Kearns, Barton Wodz, Euan Finnegan, Troy and Leroy Mpsengi and Joey Muldoon and despite their efforts Knocknacarra managed to exploit the scale of the changes made to pull away to victory.

A lot to be proud of in terms of performance and attitude of a large squad who continue to build towards other goals for this season.

22.10.23

9.30am U9s Boys Academy were early risers for the blitz with Carrick Town. With six u8s joining in these young lads literally blitzed the opposition with some excellent free flowing football, huge teamwork, great tenacity and some goals worthy of the bigger stage. Lots of fun was had by all. Thank you to the parents and guardians for getting these young lads up bright and early for the second outing at the astro over the weekend.

11.30am U10s Boys Academy took on Carrick Town and there were some ding dong battles with no quarter given by any of the sides in with games flowing from end to end. These young lads have come on leaps and bounds under the guidance of Fergal Galvin & James Melvin and we would like to give a big shout out to Dermot Browne who helped out with management of one of our teams on the day.

14:00PM Connacht FA Junior Men’s Cup 1st Round: BUFC Senior Mens 3-1 Ballinagare Manor: Astro Ballisodare

Ballisodare United seniors mens team welcomed Roscommon side Ballinagare Manor to our astro in the Connacht Cup 1st Round.

The first 45 minutes was an old fashioned cup with both sides putting on committed displays. Gary Anderson could have given BUFC the lead but for a great stop from the Ballinagare's keeper which meant it was 0-0 at half time.

Ballisodare came out flying in the second half and good work from Darragh Mahon and Shane Kerr played Aaron 'Twinny' Scanlon through. Twinny made no mistake finishing low to make it 1-0 BUFC after 55 minutes.

7 minutes later it was 2-0 to BUFC. Subs Keith Cotter and James 'Boots' McGovern linked up well with Boots flicking a ball into Shane Kerr. Kerr laid it off to the onrushing Darragh Healy and he side footed it in from outside the box.

The game wasn't done there as Ballinagare countered and Joe Bottom pulled one back for the away side.

Thankfully for us, more good work from Cotter and Adam Grace resulted in Adam getting tripped in the Ballinagare area and BUFC were awarded a penalty.

Darragh Healy stepped up to make it 3-1 with a trademark calm finish from the spot.

Darragh Healy hit the underside of the bar from a free which denied him a hat trick and the follow up from captain Stephen Fallon was brilliantly saved from the Ballinagare net minder.

It ended 3-1 to BUFC. Impressive displays across the board, including from subs Mahon, McGovern, Cotter, Grace and Gilmartin and with Shane Kerr and Jordan Dunbar making positive impacts in the starting 11.

U12 Friendly Ballisodare United 2-1 St.John's

A useful run out for our U12 White Team on Sunday evening vs. a skilful and we'll drilled St. John's team who are currently top of U12 Group C.

Adam Graham pounced on a rebound in the six yard box to finish neatly and put us one up just before half time in an open & entertaining game.

Kyran Gethins was box to box throughout putting in plenty of tackles and probing for openings in the opposition defence while the back three of Noah Curley, Sean Giblin & Scott Breheny dealt with the three man St. John's attack until midway through the 2nd half when an equaliser arrived courtesy of another followed up rebound in the box.

It looked as if we would have to settle for a share of the spoils until Manager Kevin Gillespie switched the fleet footed AJ McDonagh from left wing to centre forward in search of a winner - a terrific delivery by the always alert Wes Elliott in goal allowed AJ to collect the ball and turn quickly before outpacing his marker and slotting the winner into the bottom left corner of the net.

Samuel Oyewusi & Marcel Koniesczka & team captain Conor Crossan showed their versatility by playing in several different positions throughout and all of the squad staked their claim for a place in the team for Saturday's U12B league match against Boyle Celtic at 9.30am. 🔴⚪⚽
