30/10/2023 U17 A League: BUFC U17 Boys 1-0 Merville United, Astro Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

A fantastic win for our lads tonight. Danny Woodrow scored the only goal of the game  in the 34th Minute.

All the lads worked very hard tonight with 100% effort all around the pitch.

01/11/2023 Boys u 16 Grp A BUFC U16 Boys 4-1 Strand Celtic, Astro Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

After not doing ourselves justice in Athenry in the cup, the under 16s got back on the horse in style with well deserved 4-1 win v Strand Celtic.

Three goals from the phenomenon that is Adam Taheny, first one rifled in with his right foot, second one a beautiful footballing move started by Lee Lougheed in midfield, played it out to Brandon Meehan on the right wing who swung in an inch perfect cross which was buried by Adam.

The third was a penalty both won and clinically dispatched by our captain and man of the match. The fourth and final goal came from a great ball into the box, Brandon Meehan took a fantastic first touch and made no mistake with the finish.

The Strand goal was a wonder strike, nothing Adam Jones could do in goal despite making a wonder save at 2-0 up, top notch goalkeeping.

BOYS U 14 GRPA: BUFC U14 Boys 3-3 Coolaney United, Cleveragh Astro (AWAY) (DRAW)

Definitely a game of two halves even though we had our chances we were 1-0 down at half time and soon found ourselves 3-0 down early in the second half.

The lads pulled their socks up with 20 mins to go with two goals from Daniel Connolly⚽⚽ and an equalizer from Leon Egan ⚽ to bring it back to 3-3.

All the lads were fantastic and especially the boys coming off the bench. We keep working hard but well done lads! 🔴⚪⚽League standings

04/11/2023GIRLS U 12 GRPA: BUFC U12 Girls 3-2 Arrow Harps, Riverstown Community Park (AWAY) (WIN)

Another victory for the girls today, this time at a well known tough venue to get a result at any level.

We knew coming here that a wet heavy grass pitch was going to be a different and difficult challenge for our girls as grass pitches at this age level are few and far between nowadays.

We got off to the perfect start scoring within ten seconds off kick off from a good run and finish by Blaithin O'Meara and a few minutes later with some good feet by Sophie Henry in the box to get past 3 Arrow Harps players we doubled our lead and everything was looking good.

In fairness to Arrow Harps they settled and started to really trouble our defence and with a bit more composure in front of goals they would have been rewarded for their efforts, at this stage the next goal would be crucial and at the time we didn't realise how crucial for us it would turn out to be.

To keep her record going of scoring in every game for us so far this season Kristina Leskova powered home a third goal and we were looking safe at this stage but that wasn't the case as Arrow Harps pulled one back before halftime and another one early in the second half,

So we had to dig deep and to their credit the girls fought to the end to keep Arrow Harps out.

On a different day we could have been out of sight with Sophie hitting the post twice and Kristina hitting the bar and we missed a few one on ones as well but to their credit the girls kept fighting for each other and had to dig deep at the end when tiring on a heavy pitch.

As they say the sign of a good team is to find a way to win when not at a 100%. To a girl I was very proud of their fight and attitude  as it showed me real character within the squad when the going got tough for them.

A special mention has to go today to 2 of our younger members who showed maturity beyond their years to help grind out the victory.

In keeper Faye Morris who steadied the ship from the back  and the central defensive mountain that is Ava McMullan who has slipped back from midfield this season to help the team.Scorers. Blaithin O'Meara ⚽ Sophie Henry ⚽ Kristina Leskova ⚽

Sligo Bay Lobster Women’s Amateur League 23/24: BUFC Senior Ladies 0-3 Glenview Stars, Mac Sharry Park (AWAY) (LOSS)

Ballisodare Ladies started off strong and applied the pressure from the start.

BUFC had opportunities in the first few minutes but just couldn't get the ball beyond the goalie. Glenview were shocked by the pressure been applied by Ballisodare.Glenview got the long ball down the middle and got the first goal after 30 minutes.

Another long ball a few minutes later led to goal number 2 just before half time.

BUFC came out again in the second half hitting Glenview hard. Ballisodare stood strong in the second half and unfortunately at 81 minutes Glenview got the 3th goal from a corner.

The BUFC ladies worked extremely hard for the 90 plus minutes and the final score line didn't reflect there overall performance.

All 18 players played today and each one of them showed just how strong of a team they are. Well done girls.

Team line out

SFAI Subway Boys u 15 Trophy: BUFC U15 Boys v Salthill Devon, Astro Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

Our u15 boys succumbed to defeat against a very strong Galway outfit in Salthill Devon who were very appreciate of the hospitality and complimentary of the facilities we have here at BUFC. A huge thank you to the parents and supporters who pulled together to help out with the hospitality.

Subway Boys u 13 Trophy: BUFC U13 Boys3-2 Renmore, Astro Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

It was a great win for the u-13 lads in the 2nd round of the SFAI Trophy competition.

Our goalscorers today were Bobby SweeneyDaniel McPadden ⚽ and Wiktor Grabowski

It was a good squad performance from all 17 of our lads, but a special mention has to go to Ethan Stoodley, who stepped into goals today as our regular keeper was out with a thumb injury. And it was Ethan's magnificent double save near the end that prevented Renmore nicking an equaliser and forcing extra-time. 🔴⚪⚽

Sligo Leitrim and District League Pallets Premier League 23/24: BUFC Senior Men 7-1 Dromahair FC, Dromahair Astro (AWAY) (WIN)

Ballisodare United Senior Mens team went to Dromahair on Saturday night hoping to continue winning ways and ready for a battle with the Leitrim side.

The first 20 minutes were frantic with both sides showing commitment for their teams cause.

The breakthrough came in the 24th minute on the back of Adam Grace's hard work as he kept the ball in play and set up captain Stephen Fallon who drilled home from 20 yards out, 1-0 BUFC.

In the 31st minute Dromahair equalised with surely one of the best goals that has ever been scored at this level. As the ball bounced just inside his own half Dromahairs Jamie Conlan struck it on a volley that torpedoed through the night sky and seemed to be picking up speed when it nestled in the top corner. 1-1.

The game turned into a battle for the next 10 minutes until BUFC got a free, Darragh Healy crossed it and BUFCs player manager, centre back and club stalwart Kevin O'Hara buried the header in off the bar, 2-1 to BUFC.

Just before half time it was 3-1 to Ballisodare after Adam Grace's off the ball work created space for Darragh Healy and like the first BUFC goal he struck it low in the corner from 20 yards.

BUFC kept the foot down early in the second and another Healy free kick was headed home by Stephen Fallon for his second, 4-1.

Ciaran McPartland had now added energy to the BUFC midfield. It was 5-1 to BUFC in the 66th minute when Adam Grace once again made a run to open up space for Darragh Healy to slot home his second from the edge of the box.

In the 69th minute Darragh Mahon was beginning to cause the Leitrim men problems and his cross deflected onto the post and Darragh Healy tapped home for certainly not his first and hopefully not his last hat trick for BUFC, 6-1.

After a goalmouth scramble BUFCs solid young centre back Finn O'Hara got his name on the scoresheet in the 91st minute to round off the scoring, a 7-1 win for Ballisodare United.

Kevin O'Hara lead from the back with organisation and desire at the forefront of his performance, Niall Hahessy controlled the midfield and Adam Grace's hard work on and off the ball was a key to many big moments. All players can be happy with their nights work and move on to a home game against Kilglass Enniscrone next weekend.

Team: Nathan Scanlon, Michael Currid, Pat Stokes, Finn O'Hara, Kevin O'Hara, Niall Hahessy, Keith Cotter, Stephen Fallon, Darragh Healy, Adam Grace, Darragh Mahon. Subs used: Ciaran McPartland, Niall O'Donnell, Calum Tonry and Shea Clancy
