Sligo Leitrim DSL U18 Boys League: BUFC U18 Boys V Boyle Celtic, Boyle Astro (AWAY) (LOSS)

07/11/2023

Boys u15 GrpB: BUFC U15 Boys 4-1 Benbulben FC, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

After a first half battle where both teams worked very hard the score line was nil all.

In the second half we rallied and started to get on top with better ball retention and after 10 mind Jayden Gilgan opened the scoring.

This was followed by a Daniel Connolly getting a brilliant header on a quick intricate corner from Ryan Maloney and Daniel Toolan.

Then a wonderful individual goal from Daniel Connolly broke Benbulben's hearts, and this was followed by a 30 yarder from Ryan Maloney.

Benbulben struck for a late consolation goal at the death.

Great work rate from all the lads especially in defence.

Sligo Bay Lobster Women’s Amateur League 23/24: BUFC Senior Ladies 1-3 Ballymote Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

In a replay of their abandoned match from a few weeks ago, the BUFC Ladies started the match the stronger team and dominated the first half. Colleen Cavanagh applied the pressure in the first 20 minutes with several shots on goal but unfortunately couldn't find the back of the net.

On the 35th minute Audrey Dinan swung in another inviting ball from a corner and this time found the back of the net.

Half time score 1:0.

Ballymote came back fighting strong and managed to get a early goal in the second half. Ballisodare continued to apply the pressure but unfortunately due to several injuries it wasn't going to be our day. Ballymote got two more breaks and managed to find the back of the net.

A penalty on the 88th minute was given to Ballisodare but unfortunately it was put wide.

Team on the day, Abbie, Ciara, Selina, Mairead, Grainne, Amy, Grace, Audrey, Clodagh, Colleen, Joanne . Subs used, Edel, Michelle Spain, Michelle Harvey, Vivienne.

SFAI Subway Boys u 12 Cup: U12 Reds Boys 4-3 Kilglass Enniscrone United, Michael McGown Pk Astro (AWAY) (WIN)

Our U12 Reds Boys deserve a huge amount of credit as they advanced to the last 6 teams in the regional area of SFAI Subway Boys Cup. They will now play Knocknacarra from Galway in a home tie in the last 32 of the competition.

Conn Cup Boys u16: BUFC U16 Boys 1-4 Boyle Celtic, Celtic Park-Boyle Astro (AWAY) (LOSS)

A scoreline which didn't reflect the effort by the boys in red today. We started the game with the bare 11 players but matched Boyle's intensity for the first 25 minutes of the match. A defensive error led to the first Boyle goal and a second quickly followed following a missed clearance from a corner kick.

Captain Adam Taheny entered the fray on 35 minutes but we quickly conceded another goal via a fortuitous deflection off the wall leaving our keeper wrong-footed.

A quick goal from Adam Taheny - beautiful strike arrowed into the bottom corner - had us back in the match after H/T and several presentable chances were created and, unfortunately, spurned soon after.

A wonderful 35-yard strike into the top corner saw Boyle reestablish their three goal lead with 15 minutes left and they saw the game out.

Plenty to be positive this morning in spite of the defeat.

SFAI Subway Boys u 14 Cup: BUFC U14 Boys V Mervue United (Galway) (AWAY) (LOSS)

Our u-14s went out of the SFAI Cup today to a good Mervue side.

The lads were 5-0 down before they realised they were as good as the Mervue players.

A mixture of a grass pitch and the lads been dazzled by their facilities led to a slow start but we got our foot on the ball and started to work and we pulled back 2 goals both well put away by Tommy King⚽⚽.

We had a few more half chances before the break but we went in at half time 5-2 down.

We started the second half better than the first and defended well to keep Mervue out.

Mervue did add a couple more from corners, which we failed to deal with.

But we had the ball in the net last through a great individual effort from Daniel Connolly ⚽ who took on and beat 4 of the Mervue players before knocking it past the Mervue keeper, a defender sliding back did get the final touch but it was on its way in regardless!

All 16 lads played got great game time and experience.

Friendly: U12 Whites Boys v Valley Rovers, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

Sligo Leitrim and District League Pallets Premier League 23/24: BUFC Senior Mens 2-1 Kilglass Enniscrone United, Astro Pitch-Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

Ballisodare United hosted Kilglass/Enniscrone on Saturday night under lights in Ballisodare.

It was a tight first half with Ballisodare's captain Stephen Fallon hitting the post after 25 minutes. It remained 0-0 until the 45th minute when Kilglass/Enniscrone took the lead in style through a perfectly placed left footed free kick from Ronan Martin.

Ballisodare hit back after 53 minutes when Keith Cotter's tenacious play saw him pressure the Kilglass/Enniscrone rearguard into a mix up and the young man Cotter tapped in to make it 1-1.

The decisive goal came just 5 minutes later when Stephen Fallon capped off a captains performance with a brilliant strike from 25 yards that beat Kilglass/Enniscrone keeper Liam Donegan.

The game ended 2-1 to Ballisodare with very little between the teams in what was a good battle for 90 minutes.

Kilglass/Enniscrone gave a solid performance and despite the league table showing them near the bottom they will be very hard to beat every time they take to the pitch. It's another step in the right direction for Ballisodare United, who have taken 16 points from the last 18 available in the league.

Ballisodare team: Gavin Phelan, Michael Currid, Kevin O'Hara, Finn O'Hara, Pat Stokes, James McGovern, Stephen Fallon, Keith Cotter, Adam Grace, Darragh Mahon, Gerard Murphy.

Subs used: Ciaran McPartland, Luke Middleton, Aaron Scanlon and James Markhem

BOYS U 11 PREMIERSHIP: BUFC U11 Boys 3-2 Yeats United, Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (WIN)

1st game for under 11 whites today resulted in a fully deserved 3-2 victory over Yeats Utd.

Ballisodare were well on top throughout the 1st half, and only a combination of great goalkeeping and last ditch defending kept the score at 0-0 at half-time.

The goals eventually came early second half , racing into a 3-0 lead. Tired legs and substitutions let Yeats back into the game in the last 10 minutss but we held on for deserved victory. Great to keep the good start going and plenty of game time for everyone . Roll on next Sunday

Friendly: BUFC U15 Boys V Strand Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

Our u15 Boys played out an entertaining friendly versus Strand Celtic on Sunday evening.
