Sligo Leitrim DSL U17 A League: BUFC U17 Boys 1-0 St. John's FC, Mac Sharry Park (AWAY) (WIN)

St John’s played hosts to Ballisodare United in the Ivor Parkes Painters & Decorators A League in Mac Sharry Park.

It Was A very fast paced, evenly matched first half that had some good shots on target from both teams that kept the keepers busy.

Both teams came out fighting in the second half, but Ballisodare had the edge and Got their Just Rewards after 20 minutes of the second half when Adam Mannion latched on to a through ball from midfielder Cian Kennedy and without hesitation rifled a terrific strike to Give Ballisodare The Lead.

St John’s kept trying but with some resolute defending from Ballisodare defenders they failed to equalise and Ballisodare took the three points on the night.

Sligo Bay Lobster Women’s Amateur League 23/24 Round 8: BUFC Senior Ladies 0-2 Gurteen Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

On a wild wet windy night in Ballisodare the playing conditions didn't make for a easy game.

Ballisodare started the stronger in the first 25 minutes with Audrey Dinan denied a goal on the 20th minute when the ball bounced off the cross bar.

Gurteen got the quick break just before half time to lead by 1 at half time with a strike from Tara Phillips.

The strong winds in the second half made play extremely difficult for both sides.

Sinead Casey got a chance on goal but unfortunately just grazed past the goal post.

Pressure was applied by the forwards of Catherine, Colleen and substitute Elaine but the BUFC Ladies couldn't find the back of the net.

The midfield line of Amy, Audrey, Sinead, Cloadagh worked tirelessly to defend & attack the ball.

Gurteen externded their lead and gave themselves some breathing space through a second strike from Phillips.

The back line of Edel, Selina, Ciara, Rachel Scanlon stood their ground when under pressure and some fine saves by goalie Grace Kivlehan on the night prevented a worse scoreline.

Subs used on the night Cora, Elaine, Michelle.

Boys u13 GRPC: BUFC U13 Boys 3-4 Dromore Villa, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

The u13 white team suffered their first loss of the season this morning, in a tight game with fellow table toppers Dromore Villa.

Dillon Hughes slotted home a cross from Oran Hynes in the first minute!

Within 10 minutes Villa took the lead with 2 goals.

Just before half time Dillon Hughes intercepted a kick out and finished to make it 2-2.

Kyron Gethins finished off a great run, 3 mins later, to make it 3-2 at half time.

Villa equalised mid-way through the 2nd half .

They then grabbed a winner 5 mins from time which was heartbreaking for the lads, who deserved at least a draw.

Credit to the lads, as they fought hard, despite the disruption to the team due to injuries from a few bad challenges.

Boys u 13 GRPB: BUFC U13 Boys 4-1 St Johns, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

Our lads had a great win this morning against a good St.Johns team.

Our goalscorers today were Wiktor Grabowski with 2 ⚽⚽, and 1 each for Daniel McPadden ⚽ and Ethan Stoodley ⚽

Boys u15 GrpB: BUFC U15 Boys 1-5 Ballymote Celtic, Brother Walfrid Park (AWAY) (LOSS)

U15 boys lost 5 - 1 in Ballymote.

Certainly a game of two halves, we went 1 nil up in the first half, a sweet shot from Adam Finn.

Ballymote pulled one back against the run of play just before half time.

We went into the second half with intent but an early penalty for ballymote turned the tide completely and made for a long second half.

GIRLS U 12 GRPA: BUFC U12 Girls 1-0 Ballymote Celtic, Brother Walfrid Park (AWAY) (WIN)

Another very impressive win for the girls especially with all the obstacles we had to overcome to win against a very good team with title aspirations.

We knew heading to Ballymote with a full squad was going to be a difficult task especially after they were coming of the back of a 4-0 win over a strong Yeats team.

It was made all the harder by us loosing one of our main players in Blaithin O'Meara on Friday night with a sprained ankle and us having only the bare 9 due to other squad members being unavailable and one of those 9 girls wasn't feeling great either, but after a good chat before the game we got ourselves organised and what a performance these girls were to  put in on a very difficult day, weather wise and pitch wise to play any sort of football.

As expected we came under some pressure at the start but we stood firm and grew in confidence and on 10 minutes we broke and won a corner.

From the resulting corner which Kristina Leskova took, it evaded everyone in the box and flew into the bottom corner.

Now we had something to defend and boy did we do that reducing Ballymote to a few snapshots and even created a few chances of our own.

The girls showed unbelievable fight and true grit for each other to get a result even at one stage having to play with 8 for 5 minutes.

Trevor Henry, a proud manager, stated afterwards "In all my years involved at football I have never seen as good a team performance as that. Faye, Jessica,  Ava Mc, Kimberley, Gabi, Sophie, Tara, Ava M, Kristina, take a bow for an unbelievable performance. Ye done the club proud.

Boys U11 La Liga: BUFC U11 Boys V Benbulben FC, Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (WIN)

Another great Sunday for the under 11 Reds team, running out 9-2 winners over a spirited Benbulben side.

Some great passing and movement throughout the 1st half meant the Reds went in 4-1 up at half time, and also rattled the crossbar no less than 5 times in that period. They kept the standard up throughout the 2nd half , and all players shone throughout.

Whilst to come away with another win is great, what was the most pleasing was to see the players bring the learnings from the training pitch into game time, and their positional awareness and understanding of individual roles and responsibilities is improving game by game. Well done lads.

Connacht Men’s Cup Round 2: BUFC Senior Mens 2-0 Manulla FC, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

Ballisodare United senior mens team took on Manulla FC from the top tier of the Mayo League in Round 2 of the Connacht Cup on Sunday.

With both sides missing a few players it was always going to be a classic Connacht Cup match where workrate and application would prove to be key ingredients in the outcome. The game was just getting going when Darragh Mahon went down with what looked to be a bad knee injury.

After a 15-minute hold up in play, Darragh was taken off the field of play and was taken to hospital where we await word of the severity of his injury.

The stoppage took the energy out of the game and it was only the last 15 minutes of the first half when both sides seemed to regain focus. Nevertheless, chances were limited and despite shots from Keith Cotter and Paul Scanlon and a chance for Niall O'Donnell, it remained 0-0 at half time.

Into the second half and Niall Hahessy was showing his quality in the BUFC midfield while the back four remained calm and organised with stalwart Kevin O'Hara calling the shots.

The breakthrough came for BUFC when Adam Grace's corner on 61 minutes went all the way through to that man Keith Cotter at the back post.

As he has done all season, Keith remained composed and slotted home yet another big goal as his strike riffled into the top corner of the Manulla net.

BUFC emptied the bench with Shane Kerr, Paul Scanlon and Niall O'Donnell having given their all they made way for Derek Lynch, Shea Clancy and Patrick Gilmartin.

It was a counter attack from BUFC that gave us a 2-0 lead in the 79th minute. Keith Cotter latched onto a clearance and powered down the right side, his cross was then met by the unmarked Shea Clancy who finished low and hard to give BUFC a 2-0 lead.

Manulla were limited in their chances and the game ended 2-0 BUFC.

Keith Cotter is rightly getting headlines for his goalscoring abilities, his buddy and partner on the right side of the Ballisodare lineup in Michael Currid is becoming another young star player for the senior side with yet another stellar defensive performance from the young man.

It's now 7 wins and 1 draw in their last 8 games with 4 clean sheets in those games.

The game against Manulla was testament to having a big squad with players giving their all when they get a chance.

The performance was epitomised by captain for the day Adam Grace who played centre midfield. His energy, commitment, and leadership was magnificent in what was one of his best ever performances for the club, a deserved Man Of The Match.

Onto Valley Rovers away next week in what will be another big test.

We all wish Darragh Mahon a speedy recovery and fingers crossed it won't be long before he's back tormenting opposition defences.

Team: Gavin Phelan, Michael Currid, Finn O'Hara, Kevin O'Hara, Pat Stokes, Keith Cotter, Adam Grace (c), Niall Hahessy, Paul Scanlon, Darragh Mahon, Shane Kerr. Subs used: Niall O'Donnell, Derek Lynch, Shea Clancy and Patrick Gilmartin

Girls U11 Serie A: U11 Girls 5-1 Real Tubber, Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (WIN)

Our U11 girls had a late ko in Cleveragh and after a slow start conceding in the first minute normal transmission was resumed running out 5-1 winners v Real Tubber.

Two From Fay and Ella and one for Jessica.

Player of the match captain Hazel marshalled the defence brilliantly with the help of Charlotte, Willow and Gloria.

The midfield of Ava  Fay  JJ  and Jessica took when needed and the forwards of Mya, Ella and Caragh put in great work.

Well done to Caragh Curley and Willow Woods who donned the BUFC jersey for the first time today.

Our squad is slowly growing by the weeks and there is a nice blend of young and experienced talent to drive us on for an enjoyable season.

Rugantinos U18 Boys League: U18 Boys 7-1 Calry Bohs, Astro Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

A great win and performance by the u18s tonight beating Calry Bohs 7-1.

Keith Cotter opened the scoring by capitalising on a mistake in the Calry defence, and skilfully curling the ball into the right hand side of the net.

Calry equalised, but we went back in front, when Keith reacted quickest to a fine penalty save by the Calry keeper, from a Camryn Gilgan penalty.

Eoin Dooner got in on the act, flicking home a free kick.

Shane Gethins mirrored Keith's first goal, to score our fourth.

Darragh Sweeney added a fifth early in second half.

Michael Currid scored a fine goal, to make it six, before Keith rounded off a MOTM performance, grabbing our seventh and his hattrick.
