Everyone at Ballisodare United is deeply saddened by the death of Michael 'Bomber' Savage.

Michael will be sorely missed by his children Tara and Barry both whom played with BUFC, his granddaughter Ava (current U11s & U12s Girls player), the Savage family, his extended family and circle of friends.

'Bomber' will be missed by all in our own club. From those who seen him play in our youth teams before his move to Sligo Rovers, to his Ballisodare United teammates pre and post his League of Ireland career, to those who were coached by him in our underage teams or during his recent spell as our senior team manager, and by everyone in Ballisodare United FC and the Ballisodare community who knew him. As the phrase goes, he was own of our own. The Boys of Ballisodare

It is hard to sum up Bombers success as a footballer and what he meant to the people of Ballisodare. However, 'The Boy from Ballisodare' written by Michael Moran in 2003 is a brilliant interview in which Bomber talks about his career from Ballisodare to Sligo Rovers and beyond and back to Ballisodare.

Obituary & funeral information:

On behalf of the entire Ballisodare United community, at home and abroad, we extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Michaels family - our hearts go out to them all.

May Michael 'Bomber' Savage Rest In Peace.
