GIRLS U 12 GRPA: BUFC U12 Girls 3-2 Boyle Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

5 out of 5 wins for the girls in the league but what a nervy end we had to deal with in this one.

With Blaithin O'Meara unavailable and Faye Morris injured we had to do abit of reshuffling of the pack but it's a squad game and all were needed today.

We settled quickly and soon were 1-0 up with a good run from Tara leading to another finish from Sophie.

Soon after Kristina scored a second with a good shot and finish and just before halftime Sophie added her second of the game.

We were in total control at halftime but we went out the second half with not the same intensity at all but still created a few chances that on another day we would have taken.

To their credit Boyle never stopped fighting and for the last 10 minutes were the better side and with 5 minutes remaining scored 2 quick fire goals to leave us hanging on at the end which thankfully we did.

Again every girl gave their all today and we will learn from that scare that we have to keep the work rate right up to the end of the game. Well done to the whole squad today and every game so far.

Special mention today for 2 girls. Firstly Ella Venter who stepped up for the team and went in goals and did exceptionally well making a few fine saves.

Next girl is Ava McMullan who on her own request wanted to play this morning and what a performance in midfield, she was everywhere. She done her grandfather, Michael "Bomber" Savage. very proud today. An 11 out of 10 performance on a very difficult time for her.

Scorers: Sophie Henry ⚽⚽ Kristina Leskova ⚽

Boys u13 GRPC: BUFC U13 Boys 6-3 Carrick Town, Summerhill Astro (AWAY) (WIN)

The u13 white team, captained by Naoise Lang, secured a well deserved win against a good Carrick Town side this morning in Summerhill.

Kyron Gethins opened the scoring on 6’ with a brilliant dribble and shot from long range.

Conor Fallon and Dylan Hughes added to that on 9’ and 22’.

Conor Fallon made it 4-0 at HT expertly finishing off a great through ball from Dylan Hughes.

Conor Fallon completed a brilliant hat-trick 10’ after HT.

Carrick scored 2 soon after, before Dylan scored his second from a corner 3’ from time.

Carrick grabbed a late goal at the end to make a final score of 6-3.

Oran Hynes and Kyron were both unlucky to hit the woodwork also.

Credit to the lads, who worked tirelessly for the win, as we had a smaller squad today.

Special thanks to Carrick Town for impeccably observing a minutes silence for the late BUFC Great *‘Bomber’ Savage* RIP.

Boys u15 GrpB: BUFC U15 Boys 3-2 Gurteen Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

A good result in a scrappy enough game, Daniel Connolly opened to scoring for us after 10 mins.

Neither team took control of the game and even though we were on top all through we were also working hard in defence, Jack Galvin keeping Gurteen no10 under the thumb.

Our attack was regularly getting into the Gurteen box only for a nick or a poor pass to scupper the momentum until Ryan Whelan was taken down in the box and Daniel Toolan stepped up to dispatch the spot kick perfectly.

But again the Gurteen attack was a threat when we pushed up then a bullet of a shot beat Ronan Rogers in our goal to leave it 2 - 1 at half time.

Second half again was scrappy with us on top and regularly getting behind the gurteen defence but hit everything except the back of the net on several occasions, then Adam Finn got on the end of a brilliant Daniel Connolly cross to score with a " rare for Adam" right footed shot.

Gurteen kept working and broke between our 2 centre halves and pulled a goal back with 5 mins to go, a nervy last few mins but the ever present.

Cian McMunn was outstanding today at center half with some really precision tackles and the deftest glancing header in the last minute to deny Gurteen a certain equalizer.

The last kick of the game seen Jayden Gilgan bursting down the left only to hit the post, the third time he was denied by the woodwork.

A very happy group of boys heading into the Christmas break. Merry Christmas to you all.

Boys u 13 GRPB: BUFC U13 Boys 5-1 Boyle Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (WIN)

Another good day today for the u13 lads with wins coming for both teams.

A great squad performance from the group B team which saw 2 of the u13 girls Ríona Dooner and Crystal Dele make their debuts for us and they both played brilliantly.

Our goal scorers today were Ethan Stoodley with 2 in the 1st half and then stood in goals for the second and made 3 great saves.

Stephen Gillespie converted a penalty he won himself and Bobby Sweeney and Daniel McPadden got one each.

Today's squad: Ryan Gerrity, Bobby Cavanagh (C), Liam McManus, Max Verdon, Alex Cashman, Scott Kenny, Stephen Gillespie 📷, Charlie Nicholson, Ethan Stoodley ⚽⚽, Daniel McPadden ⚽, Bobby Sweeney ⚽, Ben Maguire, Brandon Nyathi, Peter Mnisi, Ríona Dooner & Crystal Dele

R.13 Sligo Bay Lobsters Women’s League: BUFC Senior Ladies 2-0 Yeats United, Mac Sharry Park (HOME) (WIN)

For the first time in weeks the Ballisodare ladies didn't have to battle with weather conditions and made playing football alot easier for the girls.

The pressure was applied from the start by Ballisodare.

The girls were the stronger team with Sinead Casey getting 2 goals in the first half.

Yeats came out fighting strong in the second half with the crossbar denying them a goal.

Ballisodate ladies kept there cool and played fantastic football with several attempts on goal but were denied by the Yeats goalie.

Kate Fallon made her first appearance with the team and she showed her true potential as an up & coming player well done Kate. Final score Ballisodare 2:0

BOYS U 11 La Liga: BUFC U11 Boys V Ballygawley Celtic, Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (WIN)

Ballisodare under 11s red team made it 4 wins from 4 with an 8-0 victory over a spirited Ballygawley Celtic side this morning .

Dreadful weather conditions made it a challenge for both teams, but the Reds stuck to the task throughout, looking to keep the ball on the ground at all times which was great to see.

The lads have been superb all year and the feedback from tge parents has been really positive.

Here's to maintaining the progress in 2024. A minutes silence was observed across all pitches at 12pm at our request in memory of Mick "Bomber " Savage. May he rest in peace.

GIRLS U11 SERIEA: BUFC U11 Girls 2-2 Yeats United, Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (DRAW)

The Ballisadare girls u11 team put in a gritty display in horrible conditions to come back from 2 down to secure a draw against Yeats. Scorers on the day were Ella and JJ.

Great effort all over the pitch from Willow, Hazel, Jessica (Captain). JJ, Gloria and Ella and of course Joint coach for the day Fay who is on the injury list but rest assured will be back in action before that Halland fella.

The girls dedicated their efforts to Ava who we missed immensely today.

We go again in the New Year and hope to see our entire talented squad return to the playing field .

Thanks as always to the parents who show their support in great numbers regardless of conditions . Until next time...

Rugatinos Boys U18 League: BUFC U18 Boys 2-4 Gurteen Celtic, Astro Pitch Ballisodare, (HOME) (LOSS)

U18s lost 4-2 to last year's Champions Gurteen Celtic.

We have a good account of ourselves in the first half, going in 1up with a well worked goal from James Carney.

The second half started very poorly for us, conceding two early goals. We gifted them a third and we never got back into the game. Weary legs played their part. Shane Gethins got himself on the score sheet at the end.

Regardless we have come on quite a bit this season and we matched team for periods that has been banging in goals against others.
