BUFC U11 Boys

11/02/2024 - BOYS U 11 PREMIERSHIP - BUFC U11 Boys V Boyle Celtic - Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (LOSS)

The under 11s White Team put in a spirited performance against Boyle Celtic on Sunday despite being on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline.

Our opponents started strongly and raced into a 3 -0 lead at half time.

Fair play to the lads though as they fought tough and nail 2nd half, and only some great goalkeeping and the woodwork stopped a us from getting something out of the game .

A late strike from Phevos Gallagher was the least the Whites deserved.

Very proud of the lads again and we move on to next week

18/02/2024 - BOYS U 11 La Liga - BUFC U11 Boys 3-0 Melvin Rovers - Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (WIN)

The Ballisodare Red Team maintained their unbeaten start to La Liga with a hard earned 3-0 victory over a talented Melvin Rovers side this morning.

The Reds were on top throughout the 1st half, but with the final ball letting them down in a few occasions, it meant that their dominance was not reflected on the scoreboard until a Sean Flynn goal from a well worked corner routine, and a Jamie Nicholson strike just before half time gave the Reds a 2-0 lead at the break.

The 2nd half was more evenly contested, and some missed chances, including a missed penalty, meant the game was still in the balance until Jamie Nicholson scored his 2nd to made the game safe for the Reds.

Another good performance from the lads. Great to see the commitment to playing the game the right way. Football intelligence improving game by game.

25/02/2024 - BOYS U 11 PREMIERSHIP - BUFC U11 Boys 1-5 Melvin Rovers - Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (LOSS)

The under 11 White team put up a spirited display despite going down 5-1 to a strong Melvin United outfit last Sunday morning.

The lads were slow out of the blocks and found themselves 2-0 after five minutes, however they never let their heads drop and created numerous chances in the remainder of the half, and were unlucky to go 3-0 down near half time with Melvins only other shot on target in the half.

Thomas Pasa did scored a deserved goal before the break to give the lads a boost at the interval.

The Whites continued on the front foot at the start if the 2nd half, and it looked like it was only a matter of time before they scored a 2nd, only for an unfortunate own goal to take the wind out of their sails.

Melvin added one more before the finish which was unfair on the lads .

On to the next game.  The lads will keep their heads up and go again

BUFC U11 Girls

18/02/2024 - GIRLS U11 SERIEA - BUFC U11 Girls 2-3 Carrick Town - Cleveragh Astro (NEUTRAL) (LOSS)

Our girls suffered a narrow defeat at a balmy Cleveragh today

Due to mid term break both teams were short some regulars but nevertheless it was a good workout for the girls.

BUFC U12 Girls

17/02/2024 - Conn Shield Girls u 12 - BUFC U12 Girls V Castlebar Celtic - Astro Pitch Ballisodare (HOME) (LOSS)

A depleted u-12 girls squad today lost 8-3 to Castlebar, 2 of our Sligo/Leitrim stars were missing as well as Ava McMullan out of our defence.

In the first half we put up a good show and actually took the lead but unfortunately we  conceded straight away from a penalty, there was only the odd goal in it at halftime but unfortunately we ran out of legs in the second half. Scorers, Blaithin 2 and Sophie 1.

BUFC U13 Girls

24/02/2024 - Girls u13 GrpA - BUFC U13 Girls 3-6 Merville United - Merville United (AWAY) (LOSS)

Our girls found it tough going in the early stages in long grass of Mitchell Curley park .

Merville adapted to the conditions and raced into a 3-0 lead.

Nevertheless our young team (two u11s (four u12s) came back into it with a goal from Blaithin o Meara and the same lady seen a fine solo effort come off the post.

The girls continued to press in the second half but were hit by a fine solo effort to make it 4-1 and shortly after a fifth long range effort that landed in the top corner

The girls didnt lie down and a fine solo effort by Tara Morris followed by a cracker of a free by Tessa Dooney made it 5-3.

Last kick of the game Merville added a sixth despite Fays great attempt to stop it.

Fay has to be commended with some fine interventions throughout the game and also some great ball distribution.

While Merville got to lift the league trophy today. Our ever improving side can look forward to given it a fair crack in the Shield competition.

BUFC U14 Boys

24/02/2024 - BOYS U 14 GRPA - BUFC U14 Boys 4-6 Arrow Harps - Riverstown Park (AWAY) (LOSS)

The u14 lads were beaten by Arrow Harps this afternoon.

We took the lead through yet another Daniel Connolly goal.

The lads played some good football on a bad pitch but we still found ourselves going in 3-1 down at half time.

The lads dug deep and started the second half the same way they did the first but this time they took their chances, first Bobby Sweeney scored on his u14s debut.

Adam Finn got a wonder strike to level it and Ben Kelly popped up at back post with a header for his first goal for the club to take the lead 4-3.

Unfortunately that 25 minute spell on a heavy pitch took it out of the lads and Arrow got 3 goals in 10mins.

All 18 of our players played well but unfortunately we came out the wrong side of it today.
