Ballisodare United Seniors first pre season friendly ends in defeat after competitive workout.

United started brightly and after 2 minutes a Gary Anderson cross saw James Markham with a great chance of a dream start on his debut for the club but his attempt went narrowly wide.

Glenview responded immediately a minute later with a chance for Myers but he did not get the right connection.

On 9 minutes Adam Grace hit one from 40 yards which stung the hands of veteran Tony Clarke in the Glenview goals.

On 26 minutes Glenview took the lead after Myers crossed the ball for Ronan O Grady to slam home.

United responded well and on 34 minutes a Gary Anderson long range free kick was punched clear by the Glenview sub keeper.

The game was lit up on the 37 minute with a worldie from 30 yards, top bins from Ryan Downey to give Glenview a two goal cushion.

After some sustained Glenview pressure on 45 mins Adam Grace, playing in a central midfield role, spread play to Michael Currid whose astute ball over top found James Markham with a fraction of space but his first time shot sailed over the bar.

The game did not see much goalmouth action again until the 70 mins when a Condron free saved comfortably by United keeper, Gavin Phelan.

On 72 minutes a Darragh Mahon strike tests the third Glenview Keeper. On 80 mins young Mc Loughlin brought the best out of Gavin Phelan with a dipping shit that was tipped over the bar for a Glenview corner.

In the 90 minute a Glenview corner was not properly cleared and Martin Ward finished well to give Glenview Stars, who have swapped places with United in the Super League, a slightly flattering 3 nil win.

A great first workout for player manager Kevin O Hara and the lads with some new faces getting some valuable game time
