On a wet Friday evening, our U12s Reds had their first pre season friendly away to Abbey United on the lush grass of Sean Fallon Park, Cranmore.

With many strong pre season sessions behind them the lads were itching to get started and they got out of the blocks very quickly and went one up early with great work from Jason Scanlon.

The team worked hard without the ball and played some lovely football down the flanks unfortunately after dominating we were caught on the break and Abbey equalised making it 1-1 at half time.

With the wind increasingly in our favour Jamie Nicholson got on the end of Conor Fallon's sublime corner making the 2-1 with his usual composed finish.

The game finished 2-1 which was just rewards for all the hard work put in on the training field.

Speaking to Manager Damien Fallon after the game "We should have had more (goals) but that will come. Lads showed a great work ethic and I am very happy with the performance from the lads and I feel we deserved the win". With two weeks to the league Damien called for all members of the squad to attend training.

The Reds will either have training sessions and also the possibility of another game against Merville United.

We would like to wish the best of luck to our U12 White team who represent the club in another friendly this Sunday vs Dromahair at Ballisodare Astro, Kick of 12 noon.
